Introduction

Aged 47, I have spent more than 25 years in senior, general or line management roles. Much of my original career was spent in sales, marketing a senior business development roles, operating in a fiercely competitive and fluid marketplace. I thrived and excelled in these high pressure, target driven and rewarding environments. My professionalism lead to invitations to join new start ups and/or business that were readying themselves for a significant upturn in business through demand or a pro-active attack on the market.

I have worked in businesses with a turnover exceeding £2.5bn as well as experience running my own businesses. I recognise that each type of business has unique requirements. My experience is wide, varied and very much hands on. Apart from the UK , I have also lived, worked or conducted business in France, Germany, Norway, Turkey, Holland, Spain, South Africa, United States and Zimbabwe. This has included seeking acquisition targets, negotiating supply/customer contracts, closing deal, joint venture partnerships and managing or developing third party distribution channels.

I have never been one to shy away from a challenge and I pride myself  on being able to quickly assess the strengths and weaknesses of a business, the ability to devise a plan of action and then, both the willingness and the ability to implement the plan. I have always been willing to be measured on my success, not rhetoric. My management style is decisive, but inclusive. Everyone knows what is expected from them, why it is necessary and what the ultimate goal is.

Prior to becoming an interim manager, my employers utilised my skills to assess and troubleshoot their more ‘troublesome’ ventures. This may have been to take over the reins of a struggling business, to expand and/or develop an existing operation, to offer up an honest assessment of the viability of a business or to start a business/division from scratch. In each and every case, I reviewed the business or model, assessed the needs, presented an action plan and them implemented the plan.

I am an individual that can be trusted to get the job done, one that recognises and understands the needs of shareholders and investors and above all, an individual with unquestionable honesty and integrity. I am able to turn strategy into actions, expectations into results and losses into profit. However, whatever the potential rewards, I will not accept an assignment unless I believe I can make a worthwhile and tangible contribution to the task. Unusually for an interim manager, I am willing to discuss my remuneration, this could include a standard day rate, a lower day rate in return for higher upside based on tangible results and/or an equity consideration.
